Hear hear! :) Although I do think good ol' Bill deserves some credit...he was Lumpkin's pal, after all...
So, if the sole purpose of LotR is Lumpkin, why INDEED did Tolkien include hobbits?
Because he is so clever! Tolkien doesn't want us to be overwhelmed by Fatty Lumpkin's charm. ^^
