Tonight was the vigil service of The Very Rite Father Michel Trigg. He died of Parkinson's disease, and while he looked peaceful, saintly, and beautiful, the disease had worn him away. If you had ever met Father Michel though, you couldn't remember him like that, nor like tonight, peaceful, but white and asleep. He was lively and brilliant, he went to Oxford where he got his P.H.D but I couldn't give his life justice in one blog post. The soul of a saintly man cannot be encapsulated in words. He was the last gentleman of a little thought of era, too little thought of if men like Father Michel lived then.
When we first came to St. Michel's Orthodox Church, I formed my opinion of Father Michel quickly, when I was about 5. After having observed Father Michel, I said sagely, "He's very handsome!" While I pity anyone who had and has to listen to my rhetorical skills, I think I will stick with my original opinion.
